Introduction

We are a friendly musical tuition school based in Canterbury with many years of teaching experience. At Band Skills we offer many different music instrument lessons ranging from Drums, Percussion, Guitar, Piano, Keyboard and even Song Writing sessions. Our aim is to make pupils better at their chosen instrument. All lessons are in a fun, relaxed but structured environment. All lessons are broken down into 2 parts. In part 1 the pupil will learn the importance of reading music, in part 2 the pupil will look at the importance of improvisation (playing without notated music). Pupils will also have the opportunity to become graded/qualified in their chosen instrument. Pupils and will also be able to learn how to play songs and the style of music they enjoy listening to.

All teachers at Band Skills are CRB checked.

Band Skills was founded by Professional drum tutor and Band Skills head teacher Mr Sean Palmer in 2006. Sean has taught drums to many pupil all over the country. Sean is skilled in teaching pupils from all ages starting at Primary schools all the way to adults. Sean is also educated and experienced in teaching pupils with special needs. Sean has written and published his own learn how to play the drums book, this being one in a series of books to come.

Percussion Classes

Sean also teaches percussion classes. In these classes students get the opportunity to create different rhythms as a group using different percussion instruments. These classes help encourage skulls such as, social interaction, confidence building, team work, decision making, listening skills and coordination.



Band Skills Sessions

In the Band Skills Sessions Sean will put musicians into a group that suite their skills and preference in music genre style.  Instrumental tuition is covered however these lessons  are more aimed at students who have a basic knowledge in how to play their chosen instrument, the band skills session covers:
